Formal education is needed if you want a job. Informal education will make you an entrepreneur. Formal education is time consuming as well @Nick Kirkpatrick
Informal education would replace formal one to a certain extent. It can not replace formal education completely. In case of doctors, if they do not get formal education then who will trust them? @Nick Kirkpatrick
Informal education is not bad at all but there has to be an agency that can certify your education. So, schools and institutions come into picture @Nick Kirkpatrick
Not sure but it would seem a combination of both is needed, and some changes need to be made in formal education. Personally, I have learned more from my own study than I ever did in school, but I still value school as it helped me learn to read and such!
