My daughter is in 10th grade. Everybody asks her about which coaching classes she is going for further studies. My daughter simply replies that she hasn't joined any.
For your reference, I am writing about coaching classes for subjects like Science, Mathematics, English and Social Studies.
Her school class teacher got impressed with her and advised not to join any coaching class. The classes at school and self study at home is more than sufficient for a student to secure good marks.
Children spend 6-8 hours in school studying various subjects. These are generally theoretical and it does not include physical activities like running, swimming and other outdoor games. They come home, have their lunch and are ready to go for tuition at a nearby place where they again spend 2-3 hours studying the same thing that they did in the morning in the school. The sum total is zero as they are blank at the end of the day. They do not gain anything, they do not learn anything. They work like robots everyday.
I don't see any need for extra classes after school hours. Still 80% to 90% of parents send their children to coaching classes.
I came across a meaningful article, "In coaching crazy India, there is a rush for dummy schools" in the "The Times of India" newspaper. See the attachment if you want to read the full article.
I appeal to the parents not to send their children to coaching classes. In fact, go for proper career counseling for your children that can help them focus on their studies and career in future. This would be the best help you can do to your children.
