There are situations when you find yourself in a fix because you can't help someone as they don't think you can help them. They are mostly younger people. They either think that the situation should be handled by them or the elders have no experience. At the end of the day, they fail. Later, they realize that they could have asked their seniors or elders for a solution.
Elders have gone through similar difficulties. They have the right experience to provide help in any given situation. In the worst case scenario, if they can't help they can suggest a way to handle it at least.
I offer help only when it is asked. I have seen if you help someone without asking for it they do not value it. Your children, younger siblings, younger colleagues are there in front of you. You see their problems but don't offer any solution until asked. In some cases help can be offered where children and youngsters are involved.
Your approach is right @Robin K.
@Robin K. I can understand your point. Proving yourself all the time is not advisable. Live life freely.
Noteworthy article @Robin K. but in some cases help should be offered without asking.
