I bought an HP Laptop from an offline store a week back. After unpacking, I noticed some keyboard issues (swelling from the middle) in the laptop. I was ignoring it thinking it would go and not to worry as it was an HP laptop. After using it for 6 days, I finally decided to show it to an authorized service center as the said issue was bothering me a lot. I showed them and they agreed to provide a Dead on Arrival (DOA) letter the next day. Before this, I had to convince them a lot about the problem in the laptop. Initially, the person at the reception did not find any problem in it. It was only after I met the senior technician, he checked it and confirmed the manufacturing defect.
Fortunately, the next day I got a DOA letter and a sealed laptop box from the center. I took it to the Reliance Digital store as I purchased it from them. They agreed for the replacement and also offered to purchase a different model or brand of the same or higher value. Since I had purchased this laptop in the festive offers, the offers were not there now. The prices were too high. I shortlisted one Dell laptop but they were not ready to provide any offer on it. By this time in store, I have found the same keyboard issue in the displayed unit of the HP laptop that I had purchased. The salesman also noticed the issue in the unit and agreed with me. So, I asked for the refund to which they simply refused. I spoke to their senior manager of the store over the phone but he convinced me to provide the same HP model which will be free from defects. I had to accept his offer with a heavy heart.
Now, I was cornered and was keeping my fingers crossed. I was thinking how to get out of this maze. I did not want the same model anymore. I knew it would have defects too.
This is the most thrilling part of this story. You can say my good luck and God's grace, the said HP model was not available and it was out of stock in all their stores.
The lady store manager with whom I was dealing all the time, to my respite informed me they will refund the money. I thanked God with all my heart. She gave a written note to me that I will get the refund in cash in the next two days. I requested her to pay online but she needed my signature to close the transaction. I said okay and immediately came out of the store, thanking God once again.
From there I went to another store, Croma, which is situated in the same mall. A day before, I have done a lot of research online and shortlisted 2 HP laptops. I showed them the model details and to my surprise the first one was available with them. I negotiated hard with them and purchased it with no cost EMI options. They have just received a fresh pack of laptops from their hub. They opened the main carton in front of me. They took my laptop box out and handed it to me. Receiving it was a happy moment for me as it was a fresh and new piece. I always yearn for such kinds of packets. The manufacturing date was just a week old.
I came home happily and am writing this article with my new HP laptop. Thanking God once again for making me pass so many hurdles to get this one.

You have experienced amazing times dealing with two merchants and winning over them @Robin K.
This is a big achievement @Robin K. Getting your money back from a merchant is next to impossible. In rare cases, they refund money. Your efforts paid you well.
It calls for a party @Robin K.
What an achievement. You fought with HP and then Reliance Digital. Did you get the refund? @Robin K.
