I would like to share my recent experience of purchasing a car.
This has given me immense happiness. As expected, I got a lot of appreciation from my friends and relatives for purchasing the four-wheeler.
Earlier I have driven hatchbacks and sedans but now I am driving an SUV for the first time and it is offering me whole new confidence on the road.
All is going well but still, I feel something is missing in all this experience of buying, celebrating and driving the car. I was just thinking about what to do and suddenly an idea came into my mind of multiplying my happiness. This happened after I received an email from the Zillion Pals community asking to share my recent success story. So, I thought why not share it with the members of this forum. It would be a brand new experience for me to share my story with the global people whom I don’t know except for the fact they are members of this forum.
My happiness journey of purchasing the car goes as follows:
It took me almost a month or to be precise three weeks to come to a conclusion of which car I am going to buy.
As I was driving a hatchback so I did not want to go for the same . I was looking for a bigger and different car so test drove almost all the vehicles in the market- be it sedan, premium hatchback or SUV or any other car for that matter.
To make it more interesting I am sharing my experience of all the cars that I tested during the purchase period (for me personally, this period is quite similar to the period I enjoyed between my engagement and marriage, five years ago)
Following cars were tested by me:
A. Hyundai
1. Creta- exceeded my budget as my maximum budget was INR 10 lacs (on road price of the vehicle)
2. Venue- waiting period was 6-8 weeks, I wanted immediate delivery.
3. Aura- low ground clearance
B. Maruti
1. Dzire- interiors and AC performance was not up to the mark.
2. Brezza- 1500 cc engine but the punch was missing, no excitement while driving.
3. Ignis- just a hatchback
4. Baleno- all black interiors not to my taste
5. S-presso- very low build quality overall
C. Kia
1. Sonet- 4-6 weeks waiting period and not sure about the after sales service
D. Skoda
1. Rapid- not available in my city
E. Honda
1. Amaze- the staff did not have automatic transmission for test drive and they were not aggressive in selling the car.
F. Ford
1. Aspire- low resale value
2. Ecosport- I did not want a truck
G. Mahindra
1. XUV 300- manual transmission was the best driving experience, a car for enthusiastic drivers but it was not available in automatic transmission otherwise I would have purchased it.
H. Tata
1. Tiago- interior plastic quality feels cheap
2. Tigor- low resale value and inadequate space for driver’s left leg.
TATA NEXON- my choice because:
i) Automatic transmission was comfortable to drive
ii) 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP test
iii) High ground clearance and commanding view of the road from the driver’s seat
iv) Good resale value
v) Staff was quite friendly
vi) Enough boot space and good legroom even for rear passengers
vii) Comfy seats
viii) Could expect respectable mileage from an SUV
ix) All the variants were available to test drive. This was the major selling factor according to me.
x) Heard issues with after sales service but my first service experience was good.
Moreover, I got a sweet deal from the dealer as I negotiated hard with them. I could negotiate well on the insurance cost and RTO charges. On top of it, I got some very useful accessories from them free of cost. This multiplied my happiness by 10x.
The entire process of purchasing the car was very challenging but at the same time I was excited too.
So, this is my story and I am happy to share it with all of you..
Look for your valuable comments.😊
P.S.
I even checked Volkswagen Polo but cooling of AC and overall drive were not up to my expectations.
